What does a doula do? What does the word doula mean?

Doula is a Greek word meaning woman's servant. As a birth doula I provide physical and emotional support while gathering information for the woman and her partner during labor and birth. I offer help and advice on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, movement, positioning and comfort the woman with touch, hot or cold pack, beverages, warm baths and showers, and other comforting gestures. I do not diagnose medical conditions, offer second opinions or give medical advice.

Services include: in-person (Within a one-hour radius)

-Discussion of birth plan

- One prenatal visit 1.5-2 hours

-On call after 37 weeks, Unlimited texts or calls

-Assess to "babycare tens electrodes machine" for pain management and relaxation during labor.

-Labor positioning education

-Resource list

-Two-hour post-birth breastfeeding assistance

- One postpartum visit (within one week after delivery)
